Better than mountains there can only be mountains that have not been visited yet.
V. Vysotsky

The first thing that comes to mind when planning a summer vacation is to go to the sea. But often such a vacation turns into a headache: crowds of tourists, unbearable heat and guides who want to cash in on you.

Meanwhile, you can really relax in the mountains. The place is not obvious, but appropriate. In order not to become an ascetic and not go on a multi-day hike, the mountains can be replaced with a ski resort.

In summer, there are no skiers or snowboarders, but there are incredible nature, clean gentle air, ringing silence and long-awaited pacification. As well as sun loungers, swimming pools, soft bedding, delicious breakfast and summer festivals. There are such places in Austria - a country with majestic Alps that occupy 70% of its area.

1. Zell am See

A cool ski resort where summer is even better than winter. All thanks to its location: Zell am See is located in the depths of the Alps. The city is surrounded by snowy three-thousanders and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, and at the foot is mountain Lake Zeller. Therefore, in the summer you can swim and ski here.

Gletscherbahnen Kaprun AG "data-img-id =" 730797 ">

Zell am See is not a pretentious resort for oligarchs, but also not a boring outback. There is something to do and where to go. For example, a lake is diving, fishing and water activities. The mountain slopes offer golf courses, tennis and horse riding. There is a thermal complex "Tauern Spa", where you can relax and rejuvenate.

Tauern SPA / Zell am See-Kaprun "data-img-id =" 730800 ">

But the main thing is, of course, the mountains. They amaze with their greatness and inviolability. You can get to the peaks both by ski lifts and by trails. There are hiking trails of varying difficulty: for families with children and for amateurs. active rest... Mountain bikers will love the freeride and the views from the peaks.

You can also walk around the city itself, go to local shops and shops. In the evenings, a light and music show is organized on the lake, in June there will be a Line Dance Alp dance festival, and in August there will be an IRONMAN triathlon competition.

Kitchen

Austrian cuisine is varied and very tasty: large portions and natural products, the interweaving of culinary traditions of Italy, Hungary, Spain and even Turkey. We recommend trying the Viennese schnitzel, the edges of which usually do not fit on a large plate. As a rule, it is served with vegetable salads. Be sure to sample the delicious Tafelspitz (beef fillet stew). Dumplings are very tasty - bread meatballs stuffed with minced meat, bacon or cracklings. All these dishes are recommended to be washed down with real Austrian beer, for example Weizenbier - a popular unfiltered wheat beer. Austria is a paradise for sweet tooth !!! Don't miss the opportunity to taste the world famous Apfel Strudel, a delicious apple pie served warm. We also recommend trying Germknoedl, a lush sweet bun with poppy seeds and vanilla or fruit sauce, and Strauben, cinnamon pancakes, an exclusive Salzburg treat. Step into one of the many caffeine that is an integral part of Austrian life. It is here that you will feel the real national flavor. Austrians are great connoisseurs and lovers of coffee. When ordering coffee, it is customary to name its grade here. The famous Melange - coffee with milk and whipped cream, Merchant - strong double espresso, Ferlengerter - weaker, Einspenner - double mocha in a tall glass, Eiskaff - cold coffee with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream .. On long winter evenings, you will be warmed by Gluewein - gluwein - a hot drink made of red wine, water, cinnamon and spices. And the most popular gastronomic souvenir from Austria is a bottle of fruit moonshine - schnapps.

Good afternoon, today I will tell you what it consists of and how much a trip to Austria costs. How much money you can count on when planning your travel budget and how you can cut costs. I will show our budget report (you can see the route). Based on our report, you can calculate your budget and plan your trip.

Any trip consists of costs:

 • for air ticket
 • to pay for housing
 • to buy a visa to the country
 • for insurance
 • for food
 • on excursions and entertainment
 • car rent

The first thing to remember is that there are several airports in large countries. That airports are located in different cities. That the cost of air tickets in Austria by city can be very different.

Much depends on the season, the time of purchase (the earlier you buy, the cheaper the ticket will be). I am showing a screen of prices for mid-April 2020.

Here are the major cities of Austria, which have airports: Vienna, Salzburg, Graz, Innsbruck, Linz, Klagenfurt.

Here's a screenshot where you can see the price difference:

As you can see, the cheapest ticket for the price is an air ticket to Vienna, from € 106 in both directions.

True, not all cities on this list can be reached from Russia by direct flight. It will be faster and easier to get to Vienna with a direct flight of Austrian Airlines. There are flights to other cities with transfers in Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Helsinki and other European cities.

For us it is important information... If desired, we can choose a flight with a long transfer (+ 1 day), get off at the airport, see another city, and then continue our journey.

Important : Sometimes airlines offer ticket sales or discounts. To buy a profitable and convenient ticket you need monitor offers... Whenever you see good things, check the terms and conditions and buy right away. Such offers fly off instantly.

How much does a visa cost

Austria is a member of the Schengen Union. For us (Russians), this means that buying a visa is mandatory. To obtain a visa to Austria, you need to submit the correct documents.

note: many companies offer visa processing services. This means that you provide them with all the necessary documents, take them to the visa center, and they undertake to deliver the documents to you. This service may cost 5 or 6 thousand rubles. At the same time, you must understand that you yourself prepare, collect, deliver and correctly draw up documents. They tell you the requirements. And the requirements are clearly stated on the official websites of visa centers.

Those. in fact, you pay for the delivery of documents from the visa center. Whether it is worth doing it is up to you.

It costs 35 € to independently apply for a visa to Austria, plus a service fee of 20 €. Passport expiration date must be at least 6 months.

One of the rules for obtaining a visa implies that you must have a certain amount of funds (money) in your account. Many countries indicate this amount in their visa requirements. In some countries, a clear amount is not specified.

But the calculation is something like this: 50 - 65 euros for each day of stay in the country. The statement from your bank account shows the degree of your financial security.

When calculating your travel budget, you should consider that this is the “average daily rate”. You can spend more, or you can cut costs and meet in less money. Nobody can force you to spend 50 euros a day)

The Austrian Visa Service Center in Moscow is located at Dubininskaya 35. There are also visa centers in Kazan, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Samara, Rosto-on-Don, Krasnoyarsk and others large cities Russia. The entire list can be viewed at website Visa Application Center of Austria.

Important news: From September 14, 2015, Russians will be required to be present when applying for a visa in person to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photos). This applies to tourists who request short-term visas for up to 90 days in half a year. You only need to submit biometric data once. After that, your prints will be stored in the database.

How much does it cost to stay

In Austria, as in other European countries, there is a huge selection of housing. Bed in an eight-bed room in a hostel, a single or double room in 2-5 star hotels, apartments and apartments with kitchens, luxury rooms with a pool. All this is there. Choose according to your budget. The service for booking accommodation will help you with this. roomguru... We use this service.

Vienna has a well-developed metro and other types of public transport, so you don't have to bother looking for housing in the very center of the capital. You can find options in other areas. Vienna's main sights can be reached in 15 minutes. The cost of the metro will be cheaper than living in the center. We stayed at the hotel Sommerhotel Wieden... It was convenient to get from him to. Train Station Wien Hauptbahnhof is 5 minutes' walk away.

By the way, you can find very advantageous offers in the center too. Basically they are from "private traders" - people who are engaged in their microbusiness. As a rule, this is not a hotel, but a room in a local resident's apartment or a separate room in a house.

There are such offers on the service AirBnb, which we often use lately and have not yet encountered any drawbacks. We find options cheaper than hotels. For example, in Vienna there are offers for 35-40 € an apartment with an entire kitchen. Agree, it's better than a hotel room. The amount of accommodation is divided into two - this is also beneficial. You don't have to change your daily routine (to be in time for breakfast). And we buy groceries in the store, and eat the same fruits, scrambled eggs, coffee, cheese for breakfast, only much cheaper than in a hotel. Your own kitchen is a convenient solution for people with stomach ailments and digestive disorders - you can eat familiar food, carefully adding something new to the diet.

Friends, now we are in Telegram: our channel about Europe, our channel about Asia... Welcome)

How much does food cost

If you are in Austria, be sure to try the national cuisine. And this is a huge selection of pies - the most famous apple pie Strudel, delicious stews and fish, potato casseroles, dumplings and much more. We especially recommend trying the famous Wiener Schnitzel. As for drinks, we advise you to try Austrian wines - there are many of them in the country and they are varied in taste.

Austrian coffee houses. In our opinion, they are a must-see. Sipping on one of 30 coffees with Viennese strudel is not to be missed.

Try all these delights national cuisine the restaurant will not be cheap for a Russian tourist today. Unfortunately, the euro is not getting cheaper.

The portion in the restaurant, as a rule, is large (not like in Moscow), they put what is called “from the heart”, so you can take one main dish for two. If we took 2 portions out of greed, we asked them to wrap them with us. This is normal. Anything that you can't handle will be neatly folded into plastic wrap.

As an example, I consider the cost of a dinner for two at a restaurant:

 • Garnish: potato salad - 5-6 €. A large dish is brought. You can safely ask to bring you another clean plate and cutlery so that you can place one large serving in two plates.
 • Main dish: Viennese schnitzel - 12-15 € (as mentioned above, you can take a portion for two).
 • Dessert: strudel - 5 €.
 • Coffee 5-7 €.
 • Austrian wine - 2-3 € for a glass of 150 ml, champagne is more expensive - about 4.5 €.

The result is 36 € for two. But it seems to me that Alla and I would not have been able to cope with all this in one dinner. Usually they took less. It was about 20-25 € for two.

We didn't go to restaurants every day. We usually had breakfast at the hotel, at lunch we had a burgers or Viennese sausages on the street. It came out about 5 €.

In Graz we rented a room in an apartment. We had a kitchen. We went to the store and bought groceries there. Of course it came out much cheaper than restaurant prices.

Shops in Austria are open from 9.00 to 18.00 (18.30). Stores close an hour earlier on Saturdays.

Important: grocery stores are usually closed on Sunday. So take care of breakfast in the evening or go to the train station.

At train stations, shops are open daily from 7 am to 10:30 pm.

How much do excursions cost

Combined tickets are popular in Austria. With this ticket, you can see several attractions at once. For example, there are about 12 attractions on the territory of the Schönbrunn palace castle. At the box office you can buy a ticket for each of them, or you can buy a combined one. The second option is usually cheaper.

Examples of prices for attractions:

Vienna Zoo - 20 euros
Prater amusement park - 7 euros
Combined Belvedere ticket (lower and upper, Winter Palace, greenhouse, building 21) - 31 euros
Mozart House in Vienna - 10 euros
in Graz - 11.50 euros. Buy a day ticket to the Joanneum Museum for € 13. He gives the right to visit all parts of the museum within 24 hours
Hohenwerfen Castle - 11 euros.

If you want to get to know Austria better, learn its history, we recommend taking unusual excursions from local residents.

Better yet, get the Vienna Card. This is a travel and discount card at the same time. Designed specifically for tourists. Using it, you can buy entrance tickets to the museum, castle, and other attractions at a discount. Plus, use public transport for free.

Detailed budget for our trip

We were in Austria for 8 days. This country was only part of our trip to Europe. In 27 days of the trip, we visited 4 countries: Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein. A detailed budget report is written in.

Budget of a trip to Austria for two (all prices are indicated for two):

Vienna - (3 nights) = 138 €
Graz - (2 nights) = 68 €
Salzburg - (3 nights) = 165 €

Tickets were bought through the Austrian railway website in advance (3-3.5 weeks in advance), so they got into discounts and promotions. On the day of the trip, they already cost 2 times more.

Vienna - Graz = 28 €
Graz - Salzburg = 38 €
Salzburg - Zurich = 158 €

In Vienna and Salzburg they bought tourist card cities for 3 days. Vienna Vienna Card 20 €, Salzburg Zalzburg Card 31 €. With these cards when visiting museums, etc. the economy came out decent. In Vienna, one and a half times, in Salzburg, twice.

Total: for two people in 8 days including everything except trains booked and bought in advance (accommodation, food, maps, etc.) 708.23 € came out. 708.23 € + trains 224 € = 932 €.

Those. for one person - 466 €.

Conclusions:

 1. Traveling to Austria is quite expensive
 2. The “Average Accommodation Rate” per day meets the visa requirements (€ 50 - € 65 per day).
 3. We walked around the cities all day and saw quite a few sights, ate reasonably (we did not save on food, did not dine in expensive restaurants).
 4. If you are aiming for walking around the city (without sightseeing), then the trip will be cheaper.
 5. If you are not planning to travel to different cities, then deduct the cost of the train costs from our final cost.

Yours faithfully,

Good afternoon! We would like to thank the DEVISU company for the excellent organization of the tour “Armenia in all its glory” from 06 to 12 July 2019! Many thanks to our guide Lie, who opened for us the history, culture and traditions of ancient and modern Armenia at the highest professional level! Her love for Armenia, talent, delicacy, subtlety, intelligence won our hearts! The trip was amazing and unforgettable! We wish the company continued success and prosperity!

Tatiana and Andrey Nechaev, Moscow

Catherine, good afternoon! Thanks, went great, the room was what I wanted (with a park view and a bathroom). I was very pleased. Thank you.

The only thing - besides me, the transfer also met women who were brought to Karlovy Vary and I had to travel from Prague to Marianske Lazne for 3 hours instead of 2 hours. It was certainly not convenient, they brought me in by the evening. Of course, it would be more convenient to fly to Karlovy Vary.

Larissa, Perm

Hello Ekaterina. Our trip was a success.

The hotel is good. Repair, furniture, plumbing, bed linen - in excellent condition, no comments. Very clean and comfortable.

The breakfasts were the same every day, but with a good assortment - so you could diversify your menu simply by choosing different dishes.

There is a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, cream in the room. We enjoyed it. Tea was added daily. Linen and towels were changed twice a week.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, no noisy crowd. There are several direct tram routes to the center (both to the railway station and to shopping centers, and to the main attractions).

Drive less than half an hour. 2 stops near the hotel: one right under the windows, the other a 5-minute walk.

Lyubov Leonidovna, Moscow

Catherine, hello! I apologize that I didn’t drop you a couple of lines earlier: I was raking my cases, taking apart my suitcase - or vice versa.

We really liked the rest in Armenia, organized with your help, everything went smoothly, without a single slip. Thank you very much for organizing the tour!

Special thanks and a deep bow to the host - "Armenia Travel". The drivers are beyond praise, the guide Lia Bakhshinyan is a real professional and a very sincere, sincere person. For a week of close communication, they became almost family.

An equivalent substitute for a seaside vacation can be a vacation on the Austrian lakes, which adorn the country like jewels. This trip will bring you new experiences, and the lakes of Austria will become your favorite vacation spot.

Almost everyone loves to relax on the seaside, but such a vacation is not always recommended for children. Many parents are afraid to take babies to the sea. A small child is tired of too long flights, and a radical change in climate is harmful to his health.

For a variety of reasons, most often related to physical well-being, many people avoid hot climates. However, there is an excellent replacement for sea beaches - the lakes of Europe. There are clean and beautiful natural reservoirs in different countries, but Austria is considered the leader in their number. There are about 1270 large and small lakes here. (look)

Lakes of Carinthia

Holidays on the lakes of Carinthia, photo by Martin Steinthaler

Often, tourists with children choose for summer vacation south. This Austrian land has a special climate, very similar to the Mediterranean. There are many lakes with crystal clean water... More than two hundred natural waters of the Carinthian South are suitable for swimming. In summer, some of them warm up to + 28 ° C.

For those who enjoy swimming and sunbathing but avoiding the excessive heat, Carinthia has ideal conditions. It is important for family tourists: you can get here by car or other land transport. It's much easier to travel with children than to fly by plane. However, even during the flight to Austria, the kids will not have time to get tired - they will not fly long.

The recreation infrastructure here is thought out and fully equipped. There are cozy resort towns on the shores of the Carinthian lakes; many hotels of various comfort classes have been built. Many local hotels offer professional animation and babysitting services.

You will not be bored under the rays of the gentle Carinthian sun. After swimming and relaxing on the coast, you can go on excursions. You will visit amazing medieval castles and experience them wonderful story, see knightly tournaments and hunting with birds of prey. A variety of active activities await you and your children: mountain routes, horseback riding, cycling, rafting, canoeing down the stormy streams. And what unusual landscapes can be observed while sunbathing on the local beaches! The serene expanse of warm lakes seems unreal against the background of blue peaks sheltered by alpine glaciers.

The cleanliness of Austrian lakes is legendary. It is believed that the water from them can be drunk fearlessly. Whether it is worth doing, think for yourself, but you definitely can not be afraid that your children accidentally swallow lake water while swimming or pick it up in their ears.

Among the local water bodies there are warm and cold. I will tell you about the lakes of Carinthia that are the most suitable for children.

Wörthersee

On Wörthersee, photo by susi gypser

The largest lake is the pearl of Austria, (Wörthersee). Its area is more than 20 km². Children are especially comfortable here - the water in Wörthersee is very warm, in the sun it warms up to + 27 ° C. Around this lake, there are clean beaches, a variety of sports infrastructure is equipped on the shores: volleyball courts, jogging tracks, roller skating tracks. The lake is surrounded by resorts - Maria Wörth, Krumpendorf, Perchach.

The most popular resort town on Wörthersee - (it is located in the western bay). Velden is preferred by outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to land-based entertainment, there are many opportunities for water sports; there is a playground on the Wörthersee, specially equipped for children.

Wolfgang See, photo by WeissesRoessl

The most popular holiday destination for family tourists in the Salzkammergut is (Wolfgangsee). The lake is surrounded by majestic mountain slopesovergrown with forest. The local landscapes are so beautiful that they seem unreal. Many mini-hotels are built on the banks of the Wolfgang See. In cozy family hotels, tourists with children are always warmly welcomed.

Toddlers love to run and sunbathe on the coastal grassy lawns. Safe wooden piers have been built for launching Wolfgang See into the water. The water in this lake is not always warm. When choosing a hotel, ask if it has a children's pool - because on cool days your child will also want to swim. If the weather near the lake is not conducive to swimming at all, you can go on an excursion. In the coastal towns - Stroble - interesting festivals, spectacular knightly tournaments, folklore concerts are often held. Take your kids to St. Wolfgang In this city, you can visit the Museum of Dolls, buy original soap figurines made by local monks. Old trains depart from St. Wolfgang, which move along a cogwheel railroad "Schafbergbahn" to Mount Schafberg.

Mondsee, photo by Martin

The lake (Mondsee) is loved not only by guests of Austria, but also by the inhabitants of the Salzkammergut. A network of water sports is developed here: a sailing center has been opened, and a large surfing school operates. The water temperature in summer reaches + 26 ° С.

Gruner-See, photo Maria

There is another amazing lake in Austria. It is located in Styria, not far from Trangoss. The Green Lake (Grüner See) is unique, it appears only in May. The melt water of the glaciers that forms the Grunersee remains absolutely transparent, albeit greenish. The depth of the reservoir reaches 12 meters; at the bottom it can be seen " underwater park"With real alleys, lawns, benches. True, only divers in wetsuits can walk along the paths of this park. You cannot swim here - the water temperature is no more than + 7 ° C.

By October, the water from the Grunersee leaves. On the site of the disappeared reservoir, a beautiful park remains, where you can walk until spring.

Mountain air, swimming, active entertainment and exciting walks are an excellent option for children's recreation and health improvement. A trip to one of the Austrian lakes will give your family an unforgettable experience.

How do I save on hotels?

It's very simple - look not only at the booking. I prefer the search engine RoomGuru. He is looking for discounts on both Booking and 70 other booking sites.
